UK Tatts HIT Day-3: $512k Measuring Time

Thursday, 27th October 2011

In the UK auction ring overnight, bloodstock agent Anthony Stroud (acting for Sheikh Mohammed) out-bid New Zealand’s Paul Moroney (representing his Flemington-based trainer brother Mike Moroney) to pay top price of 310,000 guineas (A$512,000) for 4-time Gr3-placed 3YO colt Measuring Time (Dubai Destination-Inchberry, by Barathea) during the 3rd session at the 4-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses-In-Training Sale at Newmarket. Measuring Time (consigned from trainer Richard Hannon’s East Everleigh Stables on behalf of his breeder Woodcote Stud) carries a Timeform rating of 111 & is destined for the Dubai Racing Carnival. Stroud told racingpost.com: “I think he's a genuine Group horse; he's still running well, but I think we had to pay top whack for him.”
