US Gr1 Star Shakespeare Moving To Lane's End

Thursday, 27th October 2011

US multiple Gr1-winner & 10-year-old millionaire freshman stallion Shakespeare (Theatrical-Lady Shirl, by That’s A Nice) “has been relocated from Signature Stallions in Florida back to Kentucky to Lane’s End Farm” for the 2012 breeding season, reported bloodhorse.com. From just 11 starters, Shakespeare has already notched 6 individual 2YO winners (including Gr3-winner Shkspeare Shaliyah). He stood for US$10,000 at Signature Stallions in Florida in 2011 (after standing his initial 2 seasons at Hill n Dale Farms in Kentucky). On the track, Shakespeare (whose dam Lady Shirl was also a Gr1-winner & course-record-setter) began his career with 5 straight wins (including the 2005 Gr1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park & Gr2 Belmont Breeders' Cup Handicap) before running 12th in the 2005 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Turf in his lone defeat. He retired with 7 wins (also including 2007's Canadian Gr1 Woodbine Mile Stakes) from 8 starts for US$1,293,780 earnings. Shakespeare is a full-brother to Gr2-winner Lady Shakespeare & a half-brother to both Gr2-winner Perfect Shirl & stakes-winner Fantastic Shirl.
