O'Brien Hopes So You Think "Will Handle US Dirt"
Coolmore’s Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien admitted he was “in the dark” whether former Australian superstar & 8-time Gr1-winning 5YO entire So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) will handle the dirt at his 1st attempt in the US$5 million Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic (10 furlongs) at Churchill Downs in Kentucky on November 5. Discussing So You Think’s prospects in the major race on the Breeders’ Cup weekend, O’Brien commented: “So You Think has those attributes we feel that you need (for his US debut), but we don’t know about the dirt as he hasn’t run on it before. We think he’s a great traveller through his races & is tactically sharp. He is a very mature, seasoned horse & we always thought the world of him, but his high cruising speed makes him unique & the better the race, the better those horses are. He has an amazing constitution & capacity for work & he had a couple of months off in the (northern) summer with an autumn campaign in mind. Very few horses can be backed up in big races like this & he didn’t lose a kilo at Ascot last time. That shows how strong & competitive he is & he’s naturally very quick from the gates like Giant’s Causeway. Ryan (Moore, his jockey) will decide where he is in the race, but usually he has pace to get a nice position.”
