Glass Harmonium Wins Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes

Deceased former West Australian Alwyn Park Stud shuttler Verglas (Highest Honor-Rahaam, by Secreto) added a Gr1 triumph when 6YO entire Glass Harmonium (Verglas-Spring Symphony, by Darshaan) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $1 million weight-for-age Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington. Glass Harmonium (ridden by Damien Oliver for trainer Mike Moroney) defeated fellow 6YO entire Mourayan (Alhaarth-Mouramara, by Kahyasi) & favoured 4YO gelding Rekindled Interest (Redoute's Choice-Rekindled Affair, by Rainbow Quest). Glass Harmonium took his record to 5 wins (also including June’s Gr2 Eagle Farm Cup over 2200m, plus 2010’s UK Gr3 Gordon Richards Stakes over 10 furlongs at Sandown Park & 2009's UK Listed Hampton Court Stakes over 10 furlongs at Royal Ascot) & 7 placings (in the Gr1 Turnbull Stakes over 2000m at Flemington on October 1, September’s Gr2 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m at Flemington, June’s Gr2 Brisbane Cup over 2400m at Eagle Farm & both May’s Gr1 Doomben Cup over 2020m & Gr2 Hollindale Stakes over 1800m at the Gold Coast, plus 2010’s UK Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes over 10 furlongs at Sandown Park & 2009’s Gr3 Darley Stakes over 9 furlongs at Newmarket) from 21 starts for $1,300,483 earnings.
