Niwot Wins Lexus Stakes

Former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a group success when 7YO gelding Niwot (Galileo-Too Darn Hot, by Noble Bijou) scored a 3-lengths victory in the $250,000 Gr3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington. Niwot (ridden by Dean Yendall for trainers Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes) defeated 6YO geldings Macedonian (Zabeel-Society Walk, by Carnegie) & Anudjawun (Yamanin Vital-Perceptible, by Personal Escort). Niwot (a $200,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 8 wins (also including May’s Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes over 3200m at Flemington, plus 2009's Listed Winter Cup over 2400m at Rosehill) & 5 placings (including the Listed The Bart Cummings over 2500m) at Flemington on October 1 & May’s Listed Warrnambool Cup over 2350m) from 22 starts for $591,825 earnings.
