Monday, 31st October 2011

WA Heytesbury Stud's Gr2-winning stallion Saxon (Danehill-Jeanetta Cochrane, by Sadler's Wells) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when daughter Red Hot Sax (Saxon-Lonicera, by Chanteclair) prevailed in an amazing 5-way photo-finish to the $80,000 Listed Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies at Ascot. Red Hot Sax (ridden by Shaun O’Donnell for trainer David Harrison) scored by a long-head from favourite Dark Miss (More Than Ready-Dark Amber, by Marscay) with a further head to triple dead-heaters Almachino (Al Maher-Zecchino, by Fairy King), Mendicity (Blackfriars-True Bloom, by Is It True) & Voices Of Spring (Danerich-La Carnessa, by Carnegie). Red Hot Sax (an $11,000 yearling consigned by Heytesbury at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions Sale) now has 4 wins & 2 placings (including February’s Listed Supremacy Stakes over 1100m at Ascot) from 7 starts for $171,000 earnings.
