Tosen Jordan Wins Japan Gr1 Tenno Sho

In Japan yesterday, former Hollylodge Thoroughbreds & NZ Rich Hill Stud shuttler & 2001 Japanese Horse-Of-The-Year Jungle Pocket (Tony Bin-Dance Charmer, by Nureyev) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO entire Tosen Jordan (Jungle Pocket-Every Whisper, by Northern Taste) smashed the track record & also set a new Japanese record for 2000m (1min 56.1sec) in scoring a half-length victory in the ¥274.96 million (A$3.616m) Gr1 Tenno Sho-Autumn (2000m) at Tokyo. Tosen Jordan (ridden by Nicola Pinna for trainer Yasutoshi Ikee) defeated 4YO entires Dark Shadow (Dance In The Dark-Matikanehatusimada, by Private Account) & Pelusa (Zenno Rob Roy-Argentine Star, by Candy Stripes). Toshen Jordan now has 9 wins (also including August’s Gr2 Sapporo Kinen over 2000m at Sapporo & January’s Gr2 American Jockey Club Cup over 2200m at Nakayama, plus 2010’s Gr2 Copa Republica Argentina over 2500m at Tokyo) & 2 runners-up (including 2009’s Gr3 Kyodo New Service Hai over 1800m at Tokyo) from 16 starts for ¥451,296,000 (A$5.935m) earnings.
