Gray & Jan Williamson announced dual Gr1-winning, 4-times Gr1-placed & triple Gr2-winning Irish-bred 5YO stallion Dick Turpin (Arakan-Merrily, by Sharrood) will shuttle to Western Australia to stand his 1st Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Mungrup Stud. Dick Turpin (who began his Northern Hemisphere breeding career this year at the UK National Stud at Newmarket) retired with 9 wins (including 2011's Italian Gr1 Premio Vittorio di Capua over 1600m at San Siro, UK Gr2 Summer Mile over 8 furlongs at Ascot & UK Gr2 Sandown Mile over 8 furlongs at Sandown Park, plus 2010's French Gr1 Prix Jean Prat over 1600m at Chantilly & UK Gr3 Greenham Stakes over 7 furlongs at Newbury, as well as 2009's UK Gr2 Richmond Stakes over 6 furlongs at Goodwood) & 4 placings (in 2010's French Gr1 Prix De La Foret over 1400m at Longchamp, UK Gr1 St James's Palace Stakes over 8 furlongs at Royal Ascot, French Gr1 Poule D'Essai Des Poulains-2000 Guineas over 1600m at Longchamp & UK Gr1 2000 Guineas over 8 furlongs at Newmarket) from 19 starts for €1,060,759 (A$1.315m) earnings.
