South Africa Yearlings Day-2: $213k Jet Master Colt

Tuesday, 1st May 2012

In the South African auction ring, trainer Glen Kotzen paid top price of R1.7 million (A$213,000) for a colt by deceased former champion sire Jet Master (out of Golden Thatch mare Gilded Star) during the closing session of the 2-day Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale at the Thoroughbred Breeders Association complex at Gosforth Park in Johannesburg. The colt (already named Stratocruiser) was consigned by Klipdrif Stud as agent & is a full-brother to Gr1-winner Stratos. Kotzen commented: "He was the pick of my colts - he had everything in the right place. As Jet Master is no more, he only needs to win a Gr1 race to make him a stallion prospect. I purchased him on behalf of a syndicate."
