1st Win For Half-Brother To South Africa Horse-Of-Year Igugu

The half-brother to 4-time Gr1-winning Australian-bred 4YO mare & last season's South African Horse-Of-The-Year Igugu (Galileo-Zarinia, by Intikhab) recorded his 1st win when 2YO colt Honorius (Holy Roman Emperor-Zarinia, by Intikhab) scored over 1550m at Canterbury yesterday for trainer David Payne. His star sister Igugu (a $65,000 yearling bred & consigned by Kia Ora Stud at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale) won January's Gr1 J&B Met (2000m) at Kenilworth, following 2011 victories in South Africa's Gr1 Durban July (2200m) at Greyville, Gr1 Woolavington 2000 (2000m) at Greyville, Gr1 SA Fillies Classic (1800m) at Turffontein, Gr2 South African Oaks (2450m) at Turffonetin, Gr2 Ipi Tombe Challenge (1600m) at Turffontein & Gr2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas (1600m) at Turffontein; & in 2010 she won the Gr3 Johannesburg Spring Challenge (1450m) at Turffontein & finished runner-up in the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas (1600m) at Kenilworth).
