Monday, 7th May 2012

Triple Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Dubawi (Dubai Millennium-Zomaradah, by Deploy) added a UK group success when 4YO entire Al Kazeem (Dubawi-Kazeem, by Darshaan) scored a 4.5-lengths victory in the £100,000 (A$150,000) Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes (12 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Newmarket. Al Kazeem (ridden by James Doyle for trainer Roger Charlton) defeated Irish-bred 4YO entire Quest For Peace (Galileo-Play Misty For Me, by Danehill Dancer) with a further 1.25-lengths back to last year's Gr1 Melbourne Cup-winning French-bred 6YO entire Dunaden (Nicobar-La Marlia, by Kaldounevees) in his 1st start for the 2012 season. Al Kazeem took his record to 3 wins & 4 runners-up (including 2011's Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes over 12 furlongs at York, Gr3 St Simon Stakes over 12 furlongs at Newbury & Gr3 Arc Trial Stakes over 11 furlongs at Newbury) from 8 starts for £137,435 (A$206,000) earnings.
