Hill Of Gold Wins NZ Great Easter Stakes

In New Zealand, Darley's former Australian champion 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Hill Of Gold (Exceed And Excel-Queen Of The Blues, by Cure The Blues) scored by a short-head in the NZ$50,000 Listed Great Easter Stakes Handicap (1400m) at Riccarton Park in Canterbury. Hill Of Gold (ridden by Leith Innes for trainer Michael Pittman) defeated 5YO mare Sitara (More Than Ready-Al Samoud, by Desert Prince) & 4YO mare Tropical Punch (Faltaat-Ko Hula Beach, by Hula Chief). Hill Of Gold (a $125,000 yearling consigned by Amarina Farm at the 2007 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney) took his record to 6 wins & 13 placings from 38 starts for NZ$102,825 earnings.
