I'll Have Another Wins US Gr1 Kentucky Derby

In the US, a record 165,307 fans saw J. Paul Reddam's colt I'll Have Another (Flower Alley-Arch's Gal Edith, by Arch) sustain a long run down the middle of the straight to score a 1.5-lengths victory in the US$2.2 million Gr1 Kentucky Derby (10 furlongs) for 3YOs at Churchill Downs. I'll Have Another (ridden by Mario Gutierrez for trainer Doug O'Neill) clocked 2min 1.83sec in defeating front-running favoured fellow colt Bodemeister (Empire Maker-Untouched Talent, by Storm Cat) & another colt Dullahan (Even The Score-Mining My Own, by Smart Strike). I'll Have Another (who started at 14-1) was originally a US$11,000 yearling at the 2010 Keeneland September Sale & subsequently a US$35,000 2YO at the 2011 Ocala Breeders April Sale. He took his overall record to 4 wins (also including April's Gr1 Santa Anita Derby over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita & February's Gr2 Robert Lewis Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Santa Anita) & a runner-up (in 2011's Gr2 Best Pal Stakes over 6.5 furlongs at Del Mar) from 6 starts for US$2,093,600 earnings.
