Shez Sinsational Wins Hollindale Stakes

Monday, 7th May 2012

Linwood Park's Gr1-winning NZ-based stallion Ekraar (Red Ransom-Sacahuista, by Raja Baba) added a group success when 4YO mare Shez Sinsational (Ekraar-Original Sin, by Shinko King) scored by a nose in the $300,000 weight-for-age Gr2 A.D.Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast in Queensland. Shez Sinsational (ridden by Opie Bosson for trainer Allan Sharrock) defeated fellow 4YO mare Lights Of Heaven (Zabeel-I'm In Heaven, by Volksraad) & 4YO entire Mawingo (Tertullian-Montfleur, by Sadler's Wells). Shez Sinsational took her record to 9 wins (also including March's NZ Gr1 Auckland Cup over 3200m at Ellerslie February's NZ Gr1 Darci Brahma International Stakes over 2000m at Te Rapa, plus 2011's NZ Gr1 Zabeel Classic over 2000m at Ellerslie) & 8 placings (including 2011's Gr1 Queensland Derby over 2400m at Eagle Farm, Gr1 Queensland Oaks over 2400m at Eagle Farm & NZ Gr2 Cal Isuzu Stakes over 1600m at Te Rapa) from 21 starts for $816,116 earnings. After the race, trainer Sharrock confirmed: "She'll run next in the Doomben Cup then the O'Shea Stakes, but she won't stay on for the Brisbane Cup; she'd get too much weight in a handicap like the Brisbane Cup, but I haven't ruled out the Melbourne Cup for her."
