NZ Weanlings Day-1: NZ$105k Duporth Colt
In the New Zealand auction ring, regular pin-hookers Mark & Shelley Treweek from Lyndhurst Farm paid top price of NZ$105,000 for a colt from the 1st-crop of Kitchwin Hills-based Australian Gr1-winning stallion Duporth (the 2nd foal out of 9YO Zabeel mare Be Inspired) during the opening session at the 3-day NZ Bloodstock National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka in Auckland. The colt was consigned by Curraghmore Stud & his dam Be Inspired is a full-sister to Australian Gr3-winner Rainbow Styling, plus a 3/4-sister to Japanese winner Meine Pretender (dam of Japanese Gr3-winner Meiner Hourglass, Japanese Gr3-winner Meine Nouvelle & Japanese stakes-winner Meiner Charles) & Silkie Lady (dam of South African Gr2-winner Nothing But Silk) as well a half-sister to Australian Gr3-winner Zingaling. Mark Treweek commented: "We really liked his pedigree. He's out of a Zabeel mare, which are always very popular as he's a great broodmare sire & we have also had reports from friends in Australia that Duporth produces very good sorts. He's still a baby, but he's a good type with good colour & markings & we're pleased to have got him. He'll be aimed at the Premier Sale at Karaka 2013."
