Oh Oklahoma Returns From Stud To Track Tomorrow

Friday, 11th May 2012

Gr1-placed 9YO gelding Oh Oklahoma (Singspiel-More Natural, by Naturalism) returns to the track tomorrow, after spending 4 years as a stallion in the breeding barn. Oh Oklahoma has his previous start in September 2006, before retiring with 3 wins & 5 placings (including the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m at Rosehill & Gr3 Randwick City Stakes over 2000m at Randwick) from 12 starts for $272,355 earnings. Trainer Tim Martin noted Oh Oklahoma did not have any fertility issues, but could only attract 69 mares (63 in-foal) between 2007-2010 & told racenet.com.au: "He couldn't get enough mares so we decided to put him back into work. He's in great order, he's been in the stables for about 5 months, but you'd think he'll be needing the run on Saturday." Oh Oklahoma has been gelded & had 2 trials in preparation for his racetrack return, with Martin adding: "There's another win in the old boy yet, but it won't be until he gets over more ground. He's a 2000m to 2400m horse."
