Linton Wins R.A.Lee Stakes

Former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a group success when top-weighted 5YO gelding Linton (Galileo-Our Heather, by Centaine) returned from a 7-months spell to score a 0.75-length victory in the $150,000 Gr3 R.A.Lee Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville. Linton (ridden by Steven Arnold for trainer John Sadler) defeated 6YO gelding Hawks Bay (Black Hawk-La Belle Coquette, by Bellotto) & 8YO gelding Verco Road (Rubiton-Bells Are Tolling, by Tolomeo). Linton (a NZ$275,000 2YO at the 2008 NZ Bloodstock Ready-To-Run Sale) took his record to 4 wins (including 2010's Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes over 2400m at Caulfield & Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley) & 6 placings (including 2011's Gr1 The BMW over 2400m at Rosehill & Gr1 Australian Cup over 2000m at Flemington, plus 2010'S Gr1 Crown Australian Guineas over 1600m at Flemington, Gr3 Lexus Stakes over 2500m at Flemington & Gr3 JRA Cup over 2040m at Moonee Valley) from 17 starts for $880,300 earnings.
