Noogoora Burr Wins Hampden Stakes

Monday, 14th May 2012

Recently deceased former Coolmore shuttler & in recent years permanently Australian-based stallion Royal Academy (Nijinsky-Crimson Saint, by Crimson Satan) added a juvenile black-type success when gelded son Noogoora Burr (Royal Academy-Azalea, by Marscay) scored a 1.75-lengths victory in the $100,000 Listed Hampden Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Doomben. Noogoora Burr (ridden by Andrew Spinks for trainer David Lawlor) defeated favoured filly Hoss Amor (General Nediym-With Love, by Favorite Trick) & another filly Saturn Rock (Fastnet Rock-Satin Robes, by Ne Coupez Pas). Noogoora Burr (a $37,500 yearling consigned by Widden Stud at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale) now has 3 wins (also including 2011's Listed Phelan Ready Stakes over 1000m at Eagle Farm) from 7 starts for $164,100 earnings.
