Monday, 14th May 2012

Vinery Stud shuttler More Than Ready (Southern Halo-Woodman's Girl, by Woodman) added a NZ black-type success (& 97th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when Australian-bred 3YO filly Oak Park (More Than Ready-Dawnie Dancer, by Fasliyev) prevailed over her older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the NZ$50,000 weight-for-age Listed Rotorua Stakes (1400m) for fillies & mares at Arawa Park. Oak Park (ridden by Lisa Cropp for trainer Murray Baker) scored by a half-head from 4YO mare Zennista (Zenno Rob Roy-Zarnitsa, by Maroof) with a further short-head to favoured 4YO mare Fleur De Lune (Stravinsky-Kapsjoy, by Kaapstad). Oak Park (passed-in for NZ$75,000 on a NZ$80,000 reserve when consigned by Westbury Stud at the 2010 NZ Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka) took her record to 4 wins & 4 placings from 12 starts for NZ$61,225 earnings.
