Monday, 14th May 2012

Coolmore's multiple Gr1-winning Australian-bred stallion & former Australian Champion 2nd-Season Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) added a Gr1 triumph (& 10th individual Gr1 winner) when 3YO filly Sea Siren (Fastnet Rock-Express A Smile, by Success Express) scored a 1.25-lengths victory over her older rivals (& set a new race record at 1min 08.1sec) in the $400,000 weight-for-age Gr1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben in Brisbane. Sea Siren (ridden by Jim Cassidy for trainer John O'Shea) defeated multiple Gr1-winning 7YO gelding & 2008-09 Australian Horse-Of-The-Year Scenic Blast (Scenic-Daughter's Charm, by Delgado) & 6YO mare Beaded (Lonhro-Subtle, by Night Shift). Sea Siren took her record to 4 wins (also including February's Gr2 Patinack Farm Light Fingers Stakes over 1200m at Warwick Farm) & 2 placings (including March's Gr2 Patinack Farm Surround Stakes over 1400m at Warwick Farm) from 6 starts for $460,730 earnings.
