1st Winner For Irish Freshman Sire Haatef
In Ireland, Gr2-winning 8YO freshman stallion Haatef (Danzig-Sayedat Alhadh, by Mr Prospector) recorded his 1st winner when UK-bred 2YO colt Almanack (Haatef-Openness, by Grand Lodge) scored over 5 furlongs on all-weather at Dundalk for trainer Tommy Stack. Almanack was a 17,000 guineas (A$28,000) weanling at the 2010 UK Tattersalls December Sale & subsequently a £40,000 (A$64,000) yearling at the 2011 UK Doncaster August Sale. Haatef stands at Ireland's Derrinstown Stud in County Kildare for €4,000 (A$5,100). On the track as a 3YO in 2007, US-bred Haatef won both the UK Gr2 Diadem Stakes (6 furlongs) against older rivals at Ascot & Irish Listed Belgrave Stakes (6 furlongs) also against older rivals at The Curragh, as well as finishing 3rd in Ireland's Gr3 Desmond Stakes (8 furlongs) against older rivals at Leopardstown. A cracked canon bone prompted an early retirement to stud.
