Seymour Approved To Resume Racing
Meanwhile Victoria's Seymour racetrack "has been approved to resume racing following the conduct of official trials featuring 75 horses on Friday". Racing Victoria stewards & the Victorian Jockeys Association "have given the green light for the Seymour Racing Club to proceed with its next scheduled meeting on June 2". VJA chief executive Des O'Keefe commented: "A number of experienced riders trialled on the track & their collective opinion is that the track is right to go & should now resume racing." Seymour's last meeting on 28 April was abandoned after Race 2 when riders felt the racing surface was "inconsistent around the home turn". Remedial works had been undertaken prior to the meeting, as a result of flooding that occurred in late February. Following last month's abandonment, the SRC "has undertaken turf blocking on the home turn to address the riders' concerns".
