Sir Percy Adds UK Black-Type

Friday, 25th May 2012

In the UK overnight, Gr1 English Derby-winner, former unbeaten champion 2YO & former NZ Rich Hill Stud shuttler Sir Percy (Mark Of Esteem-Percy's Lass, by Blakeney) added a black-type success when daughter Coquet (Sir Percy-One So Marvellous, by Nashwan) returned from a 7-months spell to score by a neck in the £35,000 (A$56,000) Listed  Height Of Fashion Stakes (10 furlongs) for 3YO fillies at Goodwood. Coquet (ridden by Rab Havlin for trainer Hughie Morrison) defeated US-bred duo Minidress (Street Cry-Short Skirt, by Diktat) & Gathering (Street Cry-Seebe, by Danzig). Coquet took her record to 3 wins (also including 2011's Listed Montrose Fillies Stakes over 8 furlongs at Newmarket) from 4 starts.
