Galileo Adds UK Black-Type

Monday, 28th May 2012

In the UK, former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a black-type success when his colt Michelangelo (Galileo-Intrigued, by Darshaan) came from last-in-running to score a half-length victory in the £35,000 (A$56,000) Listed Cocked Hat Stakes (11 furlongs) for 3YO colts & geldings at Goodwood. Michelangelo (ridden by William Buick for trainer John Gosden) defeated Irish-bred gelding Expense Claim (Intikhab-Indolente, by Diesis) & fellow colt Perennial (Motivator-Arum Lily, by Woodman). Michelangelo was a 550,000 guineas (A$908,000) yearling at the 2010 UK Tattersalls October Sale. He took his record to a win & a placing (on debut in the Listed Newmarket Stakes over 10 furlongs at Newmarket on May 5) from 2 starts for £24,153 (A$39,000) earnings.
