Golden Lilac Wins French Gr1 Prix D'Ispahan

In France overnight, former Coolmore shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Gr1 triumph when boom Irish-bred 4YO mare Golden Lilac (Galileo-Grey Lilas, by Danehill) returned from a 9-months spell to score a 0.75-length victory in the €250,000 (A$320,000) Gr1 Prix D'Ispahan (1850m) for 4YOs & up at Longchamp in Paris. Golden Lilac (ridden by Maxime Guyon for trainer Andre Fabre) defeated 6YO gelding Cirrus Des Aigles (Even Top-Taille De Guepe, by Septieme Ciel) & Irish-bred 5YO entire Planteur (Danehill Dancer-Plante Rare, by Giant's Causeway). Golden Lilac took her record to 6 wins (also including 2011's Gr1 Prix de Diane over 2100m at Chantilly, Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches-1000 Guineas over 1600m at Longchamp & Gr3 Prix De La Grotte over 1600m at Longchamp) & a placing (in 2011's Gr2 Prix Guillaume D'Ornano over 2000m at Deauville) from 7 starts for €996,670 (A$1.276m) earnings.
