Dual Gr1-winning & Gr1-placed 3YO filly & New Zealand's 2011 Champion 2YO Anabandana (Anabaa-Great Notice, by Nureyev) is joining the Melbourne stables of Caulfield trainer Robert Smerdon, reported The Age. Anabandana (originally a $26,000 weanling consigned by Reavill Farm at the 2009 Magic Millions National Sale & subsequently sold for $720,000 at last month's Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale in Sydney) currently boasts 5 wins (including 2011's Gr1 The Oaks Stud Manawatu Sires Produce Stakes over 1400m at Awapuni, Gr1 Auckland Diamond Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie, Gr2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes over 1200m at Matamata, Gr3 Eclipse Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie & Gr3 Hawkes Bay Breeders Gold Trail Stakes over 1200m at Hastings) & 5 placings (including February's Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield, plus 2011's Gr1 NZ 2000 Guineas over 1600m at Riccarton Park, & Gr3 Sarten Memorial over 1400m at Te Rapa, as well as 2010's Listed Wentwood Grange Stakes over 1100m at Te Rapa) from 11 starts for $NZ$512,105 earnings.
