Papelon Wins Chile Gr1 Falabella

In Chile, 5YO entire & last season's Champion Older Horse Papelon (Monthir-Encubierta, by Edgy Diplomat) raced away for a 5-lengths victory in the Gr1 Clasico Club Hipico De Santiago-Falabella (2000m) at Club Hipico de Santiago to improve on his 3rd-placing in this race last year & repeat his victory in this same race in 2010. Papelon (ridden by Fernando Diaz for trainer Carlos Urbina) defeated 3YO colts Pimm's (Tumblebrutus-Petit Madame, by Rich Man's Gold) & Cornelio Sila (Monthir-Elia Capitolina, by Edgy Diplomat). Papelon (who was also Chile's 2010 Champion 3YO Turf Male) took his record to 11 wins (also including March's Gr2 Premio Municipal De Vina Del Mar over 1900m at Valparaiso, plus 2011's Gr2 Premio Verano-Arturo Cousino Lyon over 2000m at Club Hipico, as well as 2010's Gr1 Clasico Club Hipico De Santiago over 2000m, Gr2 Premio Municipal De Vina Del Mar over 1900m at Valparaiso, Gr3 Premio Primavera Hernan Braun over 200m at Club Hipico & Gr3 Premio Thompson Matthews over 1600m at Valparaiso, in addition to 2009's Listed Preparacion-Luis Cousino Stakes over 2000m at Santiago) & 8 placings (including April's Gr2 Clasico Otono-Pedro Garcia De La Huerta over 2000m at Club Hipico, plus 2011's Gr1 Clasico Club Hipico De Santiago over 2000m, as well as 2010's Gr3 La Copa-Reina Isabel II over 2400m at Club Hipico, in addition to 2009's Gr2 Premio Gran Clasico Coronacion-Entel over 2000m at Club Hipico) from 27 starts.
