So You Think "Won't Dodge Frankel"

Tuesday, 29th May 2012

Meanwhile former Australian superstar & now 9-time Gr1-winning 5YO entire So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) "may take up the challenge of confronting unbeaten English superstar Frankel at Royal Ascot" reported The Daily Telegraph. Following So You Think's 6-lengths victory in Sunday's Irish Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup (10.5 furlongs) at The Curragh to claim this race for the 2nd successive year (he won by 4.5-lengths in 2011) trainer Aidan O'Brien confirmed the Gr1 Queen Anne Stakes (8 furlongs), the race scheduled for Frankel, "was 1 of 2 Ascot options for the dual Cox Plate winner". The other is the Gr1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes (10 furlongs) in which So You Think ran 2nd last year. O'Brien told Sporting Life: "He (So You Think) has an unbelievable presence. We're probably only really getting to know him & doing the right thing with him." And Sydney-based Tom Magnier (son of Coolmore co-owner John Magnier) said the "prospect of bumping into Frankel would not be a determining factor" & noted the "feeling (in the Coolmore camp in Ireland) was the horse was at the top of his game". Magnier told The Daily Telegraph that a clash between Frankel would be "great for racing" & emphasised: "The lads are going to map out the last few races for the horse & if Frankel is there, Frankel is there. We won't be dodging him. So You Think looks amazing & is in great form & it will be up to Aidan & the lads to determine the best race for him at Royal Ascot." O'Brien confirmed the Gr1 Eclipse Stakes (10 furlongs) at Sandown in England on July 7 was "likely to be So You Think's last race before he went to stud".
