Pear Tart Wins Queensland Guineas

Dual Gr1-winning former Arrowfield Stud & Coolmore shuttler Dehere (Deputy Minister-Sister Dot, by Secretariat) added a group success (& 73rd individual stakes-winner world-wide) when Patinack Farm-owned daughter Pear Tart (Dehere-Tangerine Dream, by Sadler's Wells) scored a 0.75-length victory against the males in the $350,000 Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1400m) for 3YOs at Eagle Farm. Pear Tart (ridden by Jeff Lloyd for trainer John Thompson) defeated the colt Free Wheeling (Ad Valorem-Miss Carefree, by Last Tycoon) & the gelding Stradon(Strada-Secret Donna, by Secret Savings). Pear Tart (a $45,000 yearling at the 2010 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) took her record to 5 wins from 8 starts for $259,800 earnings.
