Wattle Brae Stud sire Easy Rocking (Barathea-Twiglet, by Twig Moss) added a black-type success when 7YO gelding Pepperwood (Easy Rocking-Rhianna Louise, by Woodman) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the $80,000 Listed Spear Chief Handicap (1500m) at Eagle Farm. Pepperwood (ridden by Larry Cassidy for trainer Liam Birchley) defeated Dusty Star (General Nediym-Forever Midnight, by Snippets) & St Germaine (Keeper-Selenium, by Straight Strike). Pepperwood (a $38,000 yearling consigned from Glenlogan Park at the 2006 Magic Millions Summer Sale) now has 9 wins (also including 2010's Listed Bernborough Handicap over 1615m at Doomben & Listed Tattersall's Recognition Stakes over 1600m at Eagle Farm, plus 2009's Magic Millions Stayers Cup over 1800) at the Gold Coast, as well as 2008's Gr3 Doomben Classic over 1615m & Listed Bernborough Handicap over 1630m at Doomben) & 12 placings (including 2011's Magic Millions Stayers Cup over 1800m at the Gold Coast, plus 2009's Listed Recognition Stakes over 1600m at Eagle Farm, as well as 2008's Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1600m at Eagle Farm, Listed Queensland Day Stakes over 1400m at Eagle Farm & Listed Vo Rogue Plate over 1350m at Doomben, in addition to 2007's Listed Australia Post Stakes over 1400m at Eagle Farm) from 52 starts for $912,600 earnings.
