Monday, 4th June 2012

Gr1 Kentucky Derby-winning former Coolmore shuttler Thunder Gulch (Gulch-Line Of Thunder, by Storm Bird) added a US black-type success when 6YO mare Thundering Emilia (Thunder Gulch-Saint Emilia, by Saint Ballado) scored a 1-length victory in the US$75,000 Listed John Rooney Memorial Stakes (8.5 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Delaware Park to improve on her runner-up effort in this same race last year. Thundering Emilia (ridden by Julian Pimentel for trainer Michael Matz) defeated 5YO mare Martita Sangrita (Johar-Kschessinka, by Nureyev) & Italian-bred 4YO mare Master Shade (Masterful-Universal Shade, by Pursuit Of Love).
