On the NZ track, dual Gr1-winning former Australian champion 1st-season sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a juvenile black-type success (& 49th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when gelded son Excellent Reward (Exceed And Excel-Lindisfarne, by Viscount) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to yesterday's NZ$50,000 Listed Castletown Stakes (1200m) for 2YOs at Waverley. Excellent Reward (ridden by Jason Waddell for trainer Lauren Brennan) scored by a long-neck from the colt Julinsky Prince (Darci Brahma-Julinsky Princess, by Stravinsky) with a  further long-neck to fellow gelding Silverdale (Castledale-Elianto, by Desert Sun). Excellent Reward (originally a $35,000 weanling at the 2010 Magic Millions National Sale on the Queensland Gold Coast & subsequently passed-in for NZ$42,500 on a NZ$50,000 reserve when consigned by Henley Park at the 2011 NZ Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale at Karaka) took his record to 1 win & 1 runner-up from 4 starts for NZ$32,825 earnings.
