Black Caviar Compression Suit For 30-Hour UK Flight
Meanwhile trainer Peter Moody yesterday revealed Black Caviar will wear a custom-made "full-body compression suit" designed to "promote blood flow & muscle recovery" during her arduous 30-hour flight to England when she departs from Melbourne tonight. Moody said the inspiration for the "innovative approach to horse travel" came from rival trainer John McNair, who utilised the technology during Hay List's Melbourne campaign earlier this year. Moody added: "We thought if it was good enough for the likes of (world champion hurdler) Sally Pearson, it would be good enough for Black Caviar. In taking advice from the vet & the chiropractor, because this mare has always been quite susceptible to soft tissue injuries, muscle tears & the like, we thought it might aid her in that way." Black Caviar is undertaking her 1st taste of air travel & Moody noted: "Anything that can aid her in the travel, we're throwing at her. We've had it on her here at home for a couple of weeks, so she is well & truly used to it." Black Caviar will board a plane at Melbourne's International Airport late tonight and, after brief stopovers in Singapore & Sharjah (in the United Arab Emirates), will arrive at London's Heathrow Airport before a float trip to her UK base at Newmarket.
