Emirates Park & Independent Stallions Vic Join Forces

Friday, 8th June 2012

Emirates Park Stud & Independent Stallions Victoria announced they will "join forces this month at the Diggers Rest property made famous under its original banner Stockwell Stud". The move to run the property under Independent Stallions Victoria management "follows Emirates Park Stud purchasing a major interest in the emerging stallion Artie Schiller" (who has stood for 4 seasons with ISV & is currently Australia's leading 2nd-Season sire by prize-money, stakes-winners & runners-to-winner ratio, headlined by Gai Waterhouse's Gr1 Randwick Guineas winner Laser Hawk). ISV's Mike Becker commented: "We have seen too many good stallions cut their teeth in Victoria, only to be lost once their commercial appeal has risen. It was important that Artie Schiller did not follow that path & I am thankful that Trevor Lobb & Emirates Park have recognised & supported Victoria in making sure Artie Schiller stays here. It is a bit of a homecoming for me as I moved to Victoria to manage Stockwell Stud in 1989 & spent 4 years there before launching Independent Stallions." ISV will stand the current residents Al Samer & Old Deuteronomy alongside Artie Schiller for the 2012 breeding season & the partnership "has strong plans to increase its roster beyond this year". Becker summed up: "Trevor Lobb is leading a major resurgence at Emirates Park Stud & ISV is delighted to join with him & his team going forward."
