Dubai Destination Adds Irish Gr3
In Ireland overnight, dual Gr1-winning former shuttler Dubai Destination (Kingmambo-Mysterial, by Alleged) added a group success when The Aga Khan's home-bred 4YO mare Alanza (Dubai Destination-Alasha, by Barathea) scored by a neck in the €37,000 (A$48,000) Gr3 Ballycorus Stakes (7 furlongs) at Leopardstown. Favourite Alanza (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer John Oxx) defeated fellow 4YO mare Marvada (Elusive City-Theory Of Law, by Generous) & 4YO entire Glor Na Mara (Leroidesanimaux-Sister Angelina, by Saint Ballado). Alanza took her record to 5 wins (also including 2011's UK Gr3 Sceptre Stakes over 7 furlongs at Doncaster, Irish Listed Fairy Bridge Stakes over 7.5 furlongs at Tipperary & Irish Listed Platinum Stakes over 8 furlongs at Cork) & 3 placings (including May's Gr3 Equestrian Stakes over 8 furlongs at The Curragh & 2011's Irish Listed Sweet Mimosa Stakes over 6 furlongs at Naas) from 9 starts.
