Primus Moves To Clear Mountain Fairview
Queensland's Clear Mountain Fairview announced Gr3-winning & triple Gr1-placed 9YO 2nd-crop sire Primus (Flying Spur-Copa de Oro, by Hector Protector) will join its stallion roster for the 2012 breeding season at a $3,300 service fee after moving north from Victoria. Primus (a NZ$120,000 yearling at the 2004 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) originally entered stud in Victoria in 2007 after retiring due to an injury with 4 wins (including the Gr3 Tramway Quality over 1400m, Listed Ming Dynasty over 1400m & Listed Show County over 1200m) & 6 placings (including the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m, Gr1 Randwick Guineas over 1600m & Gr1 Rosehill Guineas over 2000m, plus the Gr2 Stan Fox Stakes over 1400m & Gr2 Expressway Stakes over 1200m, as well as 4th in the Gr1 AJC Derby over 2400m) from 17 starts for $524,780 earnings. Clear Mountain Fairview stud manager Mick Frappell enthused: "Flying Spur is a proven sire of sires here in Queensland & to have another of his Group-performing sons on offer at an affordable price is a fantastic prospect for breeders."
