Monday, 18th June 2012

Gr1-winning former Vinery Stud shuttler Brahms (Danzig-Queens, by Mr Prospector) added a black-type success when favoured 6YO gelding Belltone (Brahms-Belle Salieri, by Salieri) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $175,000 Listed Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich. Belltone (ridden by Chris Munce for trainer Kelso Wood) scored by a neck from top-weighted 4YO gelding Jetset Lad (Elusive City-Jetset Lass, by Jetball) with a further nose to fellow 6YO gelding Adnocon (Clang-Gwenn, by Danehill) who had won this race in each of the last 2 years. Belltone took his record to 7 wins & 9 placings (including last start's Gr2 QTC Cup over 1300m at Eagle Farm on June 2) from 24 starts for $300,050 earnings.
