Monday, 18th June 2012

In Italy overnight, European 3rd-crop stallion & NZ Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic-Pastorale, by Nureyev) added a juvenile black-type success when Irish-bred daughter Virgin Queen (Iffraaj-Glencoe Solas, by Night Shift) scored a 2-lengths victory in the €41,800 (A$54,000) Listed Premio Vittorio Crespi (1200m) for 2YO fillies at San Siro in Milan. Virgin Queen (ridden by Cristian Demuro for trainer Stefano Botti) defeated fellow Irish-bred Filona (Motivator-Furbeseta, by Danehill Dancer) & UK-bred Poneifattu (Footstepsinthesand-Athboy Nights, by Night Shift). At her previous start, Virgin Queen finished runner-up on debut in Italy's Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone (1100m) at the Capannelle on June 2.
