Johannesburg Adds US Black-Type

Former Coolmore shuttler & champion 2YO Johannesburg (Hennessy-Myth, by Ogygian) added a US black-type success when front-running 5YO entire Johannesburg Smile (Johannesburg-Serenity's Smile, by Dixie Brass) scored a half-length victory in the US$88,000 Listed Lemon Drop Kid Stakes (8 furlongs) at Belmont Park in New York. Johannesburg Smile (ridden by Cornelio Velasquez for trainer Dominic Galluscio) defeated fellow 5YO entire Schoolyard Dreams (Stephen Got Even-Hear This, by Prospector's Music) & 6YO entire Alma D'Oro (Medaglia D'Oro-Brenda D S, by Fortunate Prospect). Johannesburg Smile took his record to 7 wins (also including 2011's Listed Noble Nashua Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park) & 11 placings (including April's Listed Carr Heaven Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park, plus 2011's Listed Adirondack Holme over 8 furlongs at Aqueduct, Listed Empire Classic Handicap over 9 furlongs at Belmont Park, Listed Noble Nashua over 8 furlongs at Aqueduct & Listed Noble Nashua Stakes over 8 furlongs at Belmont Park, as well as 2010's Listed Albany Stakes over 9 furlongs at Saratoga & Listed New York Derby over 8.5 furlongs at Finger Lakes) from 22 starts for US$347,220 earnings.
