Winning Bid For Caulfield Redevelopment By End Of July
A decision on the winning bid for the $1 billion Caulfield Racecourse redevelopment in Melbourne "will be made by the end of July, after the recent short-listing of 3 developers vying for the project," reported The Australian Financial Review. Lend Lease, Mirvac & a joint-venture between private developer Beck Property Group & construction company Probuild "have lodged bids & made presentations last week to the Melbourne Racing Club committee". A decision on the winning bid "is expected to be made towards the end of July", with MRC chief executive Alasdair Robertson telling the newspaper he "hoped to give a recommendation to the committee by July 19 & make a public announcement of the winner shortly afterwards". The Caulfield Village precinct (one of Melbourne's largest inner-city residential projects) will be built on a 5-hectare carpark adjacent to the historic racecourse.
