Caviar Earns $600k Bonus & Shot At GSC $1m Bonus
Black Caviar's victory in the UK Gr1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (6 furlongs) at Royal Ascot also meant she claimed the 6th leg of the 2012 Global Sprint Challenge (10 races across Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, the UK, Singapore & the United Arab Emirates throughout the calendar year). As the winner of Australia's 2011 Gr1 Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington last November, Black Caviar was racing for a $600,000 bonus offered by the Victoria Racing Club & race sponsor Patinack Farm if successful in an international GSC leg prior to 31 July 2012. Hence the Diamond Jubilee victory saw her connections pocket that bonus & also become eligible for a further $600,000 bonus if she can secure her 3rd consecutive Gr1 Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington on 5 November 2012 (the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival). In addition, she also remains eligible for a further $1 million bonus on offer for any horse that can win GSC races in 3 countries this year: Black Caviar was victorious in the opening leg of the 2010 GSC, the Gr1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington in February & the Gr1 Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m) in early December is still an option.
