Monday, 25th June 2012

Dual Gr1-winning former Arrowfield Stud & Coolmore shuttler Dehere (Deputy Minister-Sister Dot, by Secretariat) added a US black-type success when 5YO mare Gleaming (Dehere-Cupid's Comet, by End Sweep) scored a 1.25s-length victory in the US$145,500 Listed Sweet And Sassy Stakes (6 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Delaware Park. Gleaming (ridden by Alex Cintron for trainer Bret Calhoun) defeated 4YO mare Bold Affair (Two Punch-Hunka Hunka Lori Z, by Colonial Affair) & fellow 5YO mare Winning Image (Southern Image-Harvest Girl, by Apollo). Gleaming (a US$52,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 9 wins (also including February's Listed Spring Fever Stakes over 5.5 furlongs at Oaklawn Park & January's Listed American Beauty Stakes over 6 furlongs at Oaklawn Park, plus 2011's Listed Oklahoma Classics Distaff Sprint Stakes over 6 furlongs at Remington Park) & 6 placings (including April's Listed Carousel Stakes over 6 furlongs, plus 2011's Listed Silver Goblin Stakes over 6.5 furlongs at Remington Park) from 18 starts for US$381,405 earnings.
