Marea Alta Wins NZ Kiwifruit Cup

Monday, 25th June 2012

In New Zealand, recently-deceased dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a black-type success when 6YO mare Marea Alta (Montjeu-Semper Fidelis, by Grosvenor) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the NZ$50,000 Listed Kiwifruit Cup (2100m) at Tauranga. Marea Alta (ridden by Noel Harris for trainer Alexander Fieldes) defeated favoured 8YO gelding Indikator (Sandtrap-Lady Daintree, by Sir Tristram) & 5YO gelding Carbonado (Pyrus-Courtney Amber, by Heroicity). Marea Alta took her record to 7 wins (also including 2011's Listed Taumarunui Gold Cup over 2100m at Te Rapa) & 4 placings (including January's Gr2 City Of Auckland Cup over 2400m at Ellerslie) from 27 starts for NZ$139,375 earnings.
