Pear Tart Wins Gr1 Tattersall's Tiara

Monday, 25th June 2012

On the Australian track, dual Gr1-winning former Arrowfield Stud & Coolmore shuttler Dehere (Deputy Minister-Sister Dot, by Secretariat) added a Gr1 triumph when Patinack Farm-owned 3YO filly Pear Tart (Dehere-Tangerine Dream, by Sadler's Wells) prevailed against older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the $500,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Tattersalls's Tiara (1400m) for fillies & mares at Eagle Farm in Brisbane. Pear Tart (ridden by Jeff Lloyd for trainer John Thompson) scored by a short-beck from 6YO mare Skyerush (Super Jet-Bally Aura, by Bellotto) with a further head to 4YO mare Gai's Choice (General Nediym-Faster Pussycat, by Flying Spur). Pear Tart (a $45,000 yearling at the 2010 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) took her record to 6 wins (also including last start's Gr2 Queensland Guineas over 1400m at Eagle Farm on June 2) from 9 starts for $584,800 earnings.
