Munce Set To Break Brisbane Riding Record

Wednesday, 27th June 2012

Chris Munce heads to Eagle Farm today just 1 win away from breaking Mick Dittman's record of 97.5 Brisbane winners in a season (set in 1979-80). Munce (currently on 97 wins) has 6 rides at Eagle Farm today & is also poised to become the 1st jockey to reach 100 winners in a Brisbane season. He told The Courier-Mail: "It's been a long season & if I can get to the hundred I'd be keen to take a bit of a break. I've had something like 790 rides; it's been a long season. So I just want to knock these last 3 over." Munce, 43, is also currently 2nd on the national riding premiership, with 149 winners from 792 rides for just under $5 million earnings. (Current national leader is Craig Newitt, with 166 winners from 1,137 rides.)
