1st Winner For US Freshman Sire Frost Giant

In the US, Gr1-winning 9YO freshman stallion Frost Giant (Giant's Causeway-Takesmybreathaway, by Gone West) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly Zekes Surprise (Frost Giant-Marquet Rate, by Marquetry) scored by 6.5-lengths over 5.5 furlongs at Belmont Park in New York for trainer Dominic Galluscio. Zekes Surprise was a US$23,000 yearling at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton August Sale. Her sire Frost Giant (who stands at Vinery Stud New York for US$5,000) recorded 4 wins (including both Ireland's 2005 Gr3 Killavullan Stakes over 7 furlongs at Leopardstown & 2006 Gr3 Bruce Betting Kilternan Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown, plus 2008's US Gr1 Suburban Handicap over 10 furlongs at Belmont Park) & 4 placings from 15 starts for US$454,630 earnings. Frost Giant's dam Takesmybreathaway is a half-sister to successful dual hemisphere sire Mutakddim, while his grandam Oscillate is a half-sister to champion & sire Rhythm.
