1st Winner For US Freshman Sire J Be K

Also in the US overnight, Gr2-winning 7YO freshman stallion J Be K (Silver Deputy-Major Wager, by Valid Wager) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly Baby J (J Be K-Lavender Baby, by Rubiano) scored on debut over 5.5 furlongs at Belmont Park for trainer Michelle Nihei. Baby J (a half-sister to stakes-winning & Gr1-placed Laureate Conductor) was a US$37,000 yearling at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale. Earlier this week it was announced that her sire J Be K will relocate from Trophy Club Training Center in Arkansas to Haras Santa Ana in Argentina (he previously stood at Vinery Florida before moving to Trophy Club for the 2012 breeding season). J Be K (whose 1st foals are 2YOs this year) was a US$350,000 2YO at the Fasig-Tipton February Sale & set a track-record (1min 3.13sec) for 5.5 furlongs at Saratoga when he broke his maiden by 7.5-lengths on debut; he later posted a 108 Beyer Speed Figure when he won the Gr2 Woody Stephens Stakes (7 furlongs) by 5.5-lengths in 1min 21.85sec at Belmont Park as a 3YO. Overall he recorded 5 wins (also including 3YO victories in both the Gr3 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct & Gr3 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth Park) plus a runner-up (in the Gr3 Withers Stakes) from 9 starts for US$440,200 earnings.
