SAf Avontuur Stud Buys Coolmore Shuttler Oratorio
South Africa's Avontuur Stud has purchased triple European Gr1-winning Coolmore shuttler Oratorio (Danehill-Mahrah, by Vaguely Noble). Having commenced stud duties in Australia in 2006, Irish-bred Oratorio is best known in the southern hemisphere as sire of Gr1 ARC Diamond Stakes winner Banchee (top filly on The 2009-10 NZ 2YO Free Handicap) & Gr1 Golden Rose winner Manawanui. In Europe, his progeny is headed by 1st crop son Beethoven who won the Gr1 Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes a juvenile. All-told, Oratorio is the sire of 22 individual stakes-winners (14 at group level), including 2 stakes-winners in South Africa. According to racingpost.com, "Oratorio will not stand in South Africa this year as there is not enough time since his purchase for him to complete quarantine requirements" and he "will complete this year's southern-hemisphere covering season at Coolmore's Australian base before travelling to his new home in South Africa in January."
