1st Winner For UK Freshman First Defence
A 12-lengths winning margin in a 1400m maiden at Lingfield on Saturday by Dundonnell (First Defence–Family, by Danzig), has launched the stallion career of freshman sire First Defence (Unbridled's Song–Honest Lady, by Seattle Slew) reports racingpost.com. Bred by, and currently standing at, Kentucky's prestigious Juddmonte Farm at a fee of US$7,500, First Defence is out of "a half-sister to Gr1 winners and sires Chester House and Empire Maker." As a 4YO under the training of "the late Bobby Frankel", First Defence won the Gr1 Forego Stakes. Bred in the purple, Dundonnell "is out of the unraced Danzig mare Family, a sister to [Gr1] Haydock Sprint Cup winner and [Gr1] 2000 Guineas third Danehill", a multiple Champion Sire.
