Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Day-2: Strong Rebound
Following a rather tepid start to the Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Sale on Day-1, vendors were delighted when Day-2 rebounded strongly to leave the overall sale statistics only marginally below those of 2011. According to bloodhorse.com, the total "gross declined 2.7% to US$32 million. The average fell 6.3% to US$299,065. And the median dropped 10% to US$225,000". Fasig-Tipton Boyd Browning, who had warned after Day-1 not to write the sale off prematurely, enthused: "All in all, I think we mounted a furious comeback in the second half. Statistically we still didn't quite catch up with last year. But we certainly had a more energetic and a more vibrant sale session tonight. Overall, we had better quality horses (from the first evening). Buyers seemed to bid with more confidence tonight and bid more aggressively."
